In-Depth Information
We're not sure what's better at this Argentine-Italian place: the much-touted pasta, which
deserves every one of the accolades heaped on it (try the gnocchi), or the atmosphere,
which captures the dignified sexiness of Buenos Aires. Actually, it's no contest: you're the
winner, as long as you eat here.
Fifi's Place SEAFOOD
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 305-865-5665; 6934 Collins Ave; mains $13-30; noon-midnight)
Latin seafood is the name of the game here - Fifi's does delicious seafood paella, a dish
that mixes the supporting cast of The Little Mermaid with Spanish rice, and an equally
good seafood parrillada , which draws on the same ingredients and grills them with garlic
butter. Awesome.
Downtown Miami
La Moon COLOMBIAN
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 305-379-5617; www.lamoonrestaurantmiami.com ; 144 SW 8th St; meals
$6-15; 9am-midnight Mon-Wed, to 6am Thu-Sun)
Nothing - and we're not necessarily saying this in a good way - soaks up the beer like a
Colombian hot dog topped with eggs and potato sticks. Or fried pork belly and pudding.
These delicacies are the preferred food and drink of Miami's party people, and the best
place for this wicked fare is here, within stumbling distance of bars like Tobacco Road. To
really fit in, order a refajo: Colombian beer (Aguila) with Colombian soda (preferably the
red one).
Soya e Pomodoro ITALIAN
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ;
305-381-9511; 120 NE 1st St; lunch $9-16, dinner $13-22;
11:30am-4pm
Mon-Fri, 7-11:30pm Thu-Sat)
Soya e Pomodoro feels like a bohemian retreat for Italian artists and filmmakers, who can
dine on bowls of fresh pasta under vintage posters, rainbow paintings and wall-hangings.
Think what would happen if hippies were dropped into the set of Casablanca . As per this
vibe, readings, jazz shows and other arts events take place here on select evenings.
