The Freehand is the brilliant re-imagining of the old Indian Creek Hotel, a classic of the
Miami Beach scene. Rooms are comfortably minimalist, with just the right amount of loc-
al artwork and wooden tones to strike a nice balance between warm funky and cool hip.
Dorms serve the hostel crowd, and the on-site Broken Shaker is one of the best bars in
town.

Red is indeed the name of the game, from the cushions on the sleek chairs in the lobby to
the flashes dancing around the marble pool to deep, blood-crimson headboards and walls
wrapping you in warm sexiness in the small but beautiful guest rooms. The Red is excel-
lent value for money and come evening the pool-bar complex is a great place to unwind
and meet fellow guests.

The Daddy O is a cheerful, hip option that looks, from the outside, like a large B&B that's
been fashioned for MTV and Apple employees. This vibe continues in the lobby and the
rooms: cool, clean lines offset by bright, bouncy colors, plus a nice list of amenities: flat-
screen TVs, custom wardrobes, free wi-fi and the rest. It's located about 3 miles north of
North Miami Beach.
