MIAMI'S BEST HOTEL POOLS
Miami has some of the most beautiful hotel pools in the world, and they're more about
seeing and being seen than swimming. Most of these pools double as bars, lounges or
even clubs. Some hotels have a guests-only policy when it comes to hanging out at the
pool, but if you buy a drink at the poolside bar you should be fine.

The Tropics looks a little ratty on the outside, but the interior is nice enough. It sports a big
swimming pool and a patio area that seems consistently packed with chatting travelers.
The four-bed dorms have attached bathrooms; private rooms are basic and serviceable.
Townhouse Hotel
BOUTIQUE HOTEL
$145-195, ste from $350; )
You'd think the Townhouse was designed by the guy who styled the iPod but no, it was
Jonathan Morr and India Mahdavi who fashioned a cool white lobby and igloo-like rooms
with random scarlet accents and a breezy, white rooftop lounge. Who needs mints on pil-
lows when the Townhouse provides beach balls? One of the better-value hotels on South
Beach.
