Now rebranded as 'Midtown', Wynwood and the Design District are Miami's official arts
neighborhoods, plus the focal points of much of the new art, food and nightlife in Greater
Miami. This area still abuts some of the city's poorer 'hoods, and if you come here via city
streets instead of the highway you'll see the rough edges that once characterized the vicin-
ity. The Midtown mall is the area's natural center of gravity. Wynwood is the place for
dedicated art galleries, while the small collection of posh retail outlets in the Design Dis-
trict are filled with things as beautiful as any canvas. Between the Italian-designed chairs,
