Figure 24.4 shows the alternative ways to actually run this search. (For this illustration, we are restrict-
ing consideration to use of the Basic Catalog Search function.) In order to run the search the user must
complete the subgoals “Enter term,” “Select type”, and “Choose format,” but the order for completing
them does not matter. The branches to these subgoals are therefore marked with AND. The user also
must complete the subgoals “Enter term”, “Select type,” and “Choose format,” before clicking on the
Search button, so this is indicated with an arrow specifying the necessary sequence. Note that, in
Figure 24.4, we chose not to include another layer of detail, indicating how a given step such as
