IT system functions of the PPC (function view)
.
IT system data of the PPC (data view)
.
Task and process views primarily serve the purpose of organizational design and are, thus, subsumed
under the term organization views.
Function and data views above all provide the basis for the selection, design, and introduction of PPC
systems and, therefore, are named IT-System-views (Figure 5.21). In the following the individual refer-
ence views are briefly outlined.
5.5.8.1 Task View
The task view specifies and particularizes the tasks of the PPC in a generally accepted, hierarchical
abstraction, that is, the task view is structured independently concerning structure-organizational sol-
utions and determines no special process organization. In principle, tasks are differentiated between
core and cross-sectional tasks. The subject of the core tasks is the completion of orders. The core
tasks include the production program planning and the production capacity planning, as well as the
self-manufacturing planning and the external procurement planning and control. Again, individual sub-
tasks are assigned to these tasks. The cross-division integration and optimization of the PPC is subject of
the cross-sectional task. This task includes order coordination, stock control, as well as PPC Controlling.
The task model is suitable for the analysis and design of operational tasks.
5.5.8.2 Process View
Within the framework of the process view of the Aachener PPC model, the operational-specific tasks,
which are identified with the help of the task view are arranged into a time-related and sequence-
logical order. Additionally, contents of individual tasks are concretized. The heterogeneity of the task ful-
fillment in production enterprises does not permit a comprehensive processing, model which is available
for every enterprise. Such a model would become complex and unclear due to the very high number of
cases, which would have to be considered. The Aachener PPC model differentiates, therefore, between the
following four operating types:
. Order manufacturer
.
Frame order manufacturer
