UP AND AWAY - FUNICULARS AND CABLE CARS
Several funicularraillines still operate in the city, up the hills to Montjuïc park, Tibidabo
funfair and the suburban village of Vallvidrera. Summer and year-round weekend visits to
Tibidabo also combine a funicular trip with a fun ride on the clanking antique tram, the
Tramvia Blau . There are also two dramatic cable-car ( telefèric ) rides: from Barceloneta
right across the harbour to Montjuïc, and then from the top station of the Montjuïc funicu-
lar all the way up to the castle. These are both great experiences, worth doing just for the
views alone. Ticket and service details for all funiculars and cable cars are given in the rel-
evant sections of the text.
