chocolates and then there are Bubó chocolates - jewel-like creations and playful desserts by
pastry maestro Carles Mampel. This very classy shop (with tastings and drinks de rigueur) is
complemented by their minimalist new-wave tapas place, Bubobar , a couple of doors down

Jaume I; map . This gorgeous shop from 1890 stocks handmade pralines and truffles, but it's
best known for its beautifully packaged squares and slabs of turrón , traditional Catalan nou-

Jaume I; map . Roasters of nuts, coffee and spices for over 150 years, Casa Gispert have
a truly delectable store of wooden boxes, baskets, stacked shelves and tantalizing smells.
There are organic nuts and dried fruit, teas and gourmet deli items available too. Tues-Fri

all over Spain. Chatty Scottish owner Katherine is usually on hand to advise, and you can
try before you buy with a €2.50 tasting plate - ask about the formatgelat , a cheese-ice cream
