A metered taxi from the airport to the city centre costs around €30, including the airport
surcharge (plus other surcharges for travel after 8pm and at weekends, and for any luggage
that goes in the boot).
Far cheaper is the airport train service (daily 5.42am-11.38pm; journey time 19min;
€3.80; info on 902 320 320), which runs every thirty minutes to Barcelona Sants station
(the main train station) and Passeig de Gràcia (best stop for Eixample, Plaça de Catalunya
and the Ramblas). It departs from Terminal T2 - there's a free shuttle-bus to the station from
T1 which takes around ten minutes. Trains back to the airport run from Barcelona Sants on
a similar half-hourly schedule (daily 5.13am-11.14pm). Zone 1 city travel passes ( targetes )
and the Barcelona Card are valid on the airport train service.
Alternatively, the Aerobús service (daily 6am-1am; €5.90 one-way, €10.20 return; de-
partures every 5-10min; aerobusbcn.com ) from T1 and T2 stops in the city at Plaça
d'Espanya,GranVia-Urgell,PlaçaUniversitatandPlaçadeCatalunya.Ittakesaround35-40
minutes to reach Plaça de Catalunya, though allow longer in the rush hour. Aerobús depar-
turestotheairportfromPlaçadeCatalunyaleavefrominfrontofElCorteInglésdepartment
store (daily 5.30am-12.30am); note that Terminal T1 and T2 are served by separate services.
Ryanair arrivals at Girona airport , 90km north of Barcelona, can take the connecting Bar-
celona Bus service ( 902 361 550, barcelonabus.com ) , which runs to Girona train station
(for hourly trains to Barcelona Sants; 40min-1hr 30min, depending on the service) or direct
toBarcelonaNordbusstation(€16one-way,€25return;journeytime1hr15min).From Reus
airport , 110km south of Barcelona, there's a connecting Hispano Igualadina bus ( 902 292
900, igualadina.com ) to Barcelona Sants (€15.35 one-way, €26.50 return; 1hr 30min).
The return buses to Girona or Reus all connect with the relevant Ryanair and other airline
departures. Note that there are also direct buses linking Barcelona airport with Sitges, Reus,
Tarragona and Girona.
By train
The main station fordomestic and international arrivals is BarcelonaSants ,3km west ofthe
citycentre.Thereisatouristofficehere(withanaccommodationbookingservice),aswellas
ATMs, an exchange office, car-rental outlets, a police station and left-luggage facilities. The
metro station (accessed from inside Barcelona Sants) is called Sants Estació - line 3 from
here runs direct to Liceu (for the Ramblas), Catalunya (for Plaça de Catalunya) and Passeig
de Gràcia, while line 5 runs to Diagonal.
Some Spanish intercity services and international trains also stop at Estació de França ,
1km east of the Ramblas and close to Barceloneta. Other possible arrival points by train
are PlaçadeCatalunya ,at the topofthe Ramblas (fortrains fromcoastal townsnorthofthe
city), and Passeig de Gràcia (Catalunya provincial destinations).
