map . Has an emphasis on contemporary Catalan and Spanish playwrights and pan-European
productions, and gives space to new theatre groups and radical directors.
CABARET AND OTHER VENUES
L'Antic Teatre c/de Verdaguer i Callís 12, Sant Pere 933 152 354, lanticteatre.com ;
Urquinaona; map . A small, independent theatre with a wildly original programme of events,
many free, from video shows and art exhibitions to offbeat cabaret performances, modern
dance and left-field music. In the end though, the best bit may just be the bar (open daily
4pm-midnight) and the summer garden terrassa .
Café Teatre Llantiol c/de la Riereta 7, El Raval 933 299 009, llantiol.com ; Sant
Antoni; map . Idiosyncratic cabaret café-theatre whose varied shows feature a mix of mime,
song, clowning, magic and dance, and sometimes there's English-language stand-up comedy
by local and visiting acts. Shows (€10-15) normally begin at 9pm & 11.30pm (6.30pm &
9pm on Sat & Sun), with an additional late-night Saturday special.

Paral.lel; map . One of Barcelona's most famous old cabaret theatres reopened in 2010 after
manyyearsinmothballs,andtheself-styled“LittleMoulinRouge”hasaclassynewlookfor
its traditional burlesque and music stage shows. There are big-production lunch and dinner
shows - signature show is “Made in Paral.lel”, an all-singing, all-dancing tribute to the city
of Barcelona - with performances daily from Wed to Sun (lunch show from €45, evening
show and drink from €40, show plus dinner from €80), plus Mon tango and Tues flamenco
nights (varied prices). Closed Aug.
