ESQUERRA DE L'EIXAMPLE
BARS
Belchica c/du Villaroel 60 934 511 355; Urgell; map . Barcelona's first Belgian beer bar
guarantees a range of decent brews (including hard-to-find Trappist ales). It's also a muso's
joint, playing electronica, new jazz, lounge, reggae and other left-field sounds, and there are
live acts once or twice a week. Tues-Thurs & Sun 7pm-2.30am, Fri & Sat 7pm-3am.
Danzarama Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes 604 933 019 743, www.danzarama.com ;
Universitat; map . Stalwart of the uptown gastro-club scene, with a flashy fusion restaurant
(open day and night), summer terrassa and cool bar and lounge, great for starting the night
before some serious dancing elsewhere. Daily 8am-2am (kitchen closed 1-2pm).
Dry Martini c/d'Aribau 162-166 932 175 072, www.drymartinibcn.com ;
Provença; map . White-jacketed bartenders, dark wood and brass fittings, a self-satisfied air
- it could only be the city's legendary uptown cocktail bar. To be fair, though, no one mixes
drinks better and the regulars aren't the one-dimensional business types you might expect.
