eh-UP”)isyourkindofbar.Tenrotatingtapspourartisanalbeersinallstyles(porters,stouts,
lagers, gluten free) with names like “Dark Alliance” and “Sex-A-Pils”. There's also a large
selection of bottled beer, a crowd-pleasing vegetarian bar menu and a Sunday brunch (11am
to 5pm). Mon-Sat 6pm-2.30am (Fri & Sat until 3am), Sun 11am-2am.

Jaume I; map . Barcelona has embraced the “English” pub and “Irish” bar with a vengeance,
and every barri has a place where the stag and hen groups can feel right at home. On the
whole, there's little to choose between them, though by common consent, the BlackHorse is
the best, with an off-the-beaten-track feel, despite being just a few minutes from the Picasso
museum. Mon-Thurs 6pm-2am, Fri 6pm-3am, Sat 1pm-3am, Sun 1pm-2am.

signature bar is this cool music joint that's a hit on the weekend DJ scene - the tagline “not
a disco, just a bar with good music” says it all. There's a great terrassa under the trees,
and if you can't get a table here try one of several other alfresco bars down the traffic-free
boulevard. Meanwhile, the associated Pizza Paco across the way (also with its own terrace)
meansyoudon'thavetogoanywhereelsefordinner. Daily:April-Sept9am-2am(Fri&Sat
until 3am), Oct-March 6pm-2am (Fri & Sat until 3am).

I; map . Every evening the doors are thrown open at the Palau Dalmases for drinks and cock-
tailsinaremodelledmedievalmansionknownasthe EspaiBarroc ,or“BaroqueSpace”.The
rather grand and pricey candlelit bar (minimum charge €7) certainly looks the part - it's your
opportunity to dress to the nines - and if you come on Thurs evening you'll catch singers
belting out arias as you sip fine wines under the chandeliers (recital at 11pm, €20, first drink
included). Tues-Sat 8pm-2am, Sun 6-10pm.

ering candelabras, parchment lampshades, roughplaster walls anddeep colours set the Goth-
ic mood in this stylish lounge-bar that's “putting the beat in the Born”. Relax on the chill-out
bedsandvelvetsofas,orbookaheadtoeat-thefusion-foodrestaurant isopenfrom8.30pm.

Mudanzas c/de la Vidrería 15, La Ribera 933 191 137; Barceloneta; map . Locals like
the relaxed feel (especially if you can hide yourself away in the cosy upper room) at Mudan-
zas , while those in the know come for the wide selection of rums, whiskies and vodkas from
around the world. Daily noon-2.30am (Fri & Sat until 3am); Aug: opens at 5pm, closed Sun.
