concentration around Pl. del Mercadal and along nearby c/de Santa Anna. The daily market

CafédeReus c/del Metge Fortuny 977 126 266, cafedereus.com . This classic café, just
up a lane from the main square, is a reliable place for a good meal at a reasonable price, with
seasonal menus available day and night for €12-15. In summer you can eat outside on the
square. Daily 8am-1am.
Cerveseria Ferreteria Pl. de la Farinera 10 977 340 326, laferreteriadereus.com . A
popular place for tapas and grills (€2-10, weekday lunch menu €12.50) - the interesting in-

stacked on the old wooden shop shelves, while there's a pretty terrassa in the square outside.
Daily noon-midnight.
GaudíR Gaudí Centre, top floor 977 127 702, gaudirestaurant.com . Widely considered
to be the best place in town, and especially good for fish and rice - the menu changes ac-
cording to the catch, but expect prawn-stuffed calamari or a piquant stew of langoustine and
monkfish. There's a weekday lunch menu for around €20, otherwise mains at €20-30 and
a tasting menu at €55. Reserve ahead for a terrace table. Mon 1-5pm, Tues-Sat 1-5pm &
8-11pm.
La Glorieta del Castell Pl. del Castell 2 977 340 826, restaurantlaglorietadelcas-
tell.com . A traditional place, with market-led Catalan cuisine and good-value menús del dia
day and night (€15-20, otherwise €10-20). Mains include grilled bream with artichokes,
fideuà or pork in a vermouth sauce. Wed-Mon 1-4.30pm & 8.30-11.30pm.
Restaurant Joan Urgellès c/d'Aleus 7 977 342 178. For fancier, contemporary cuisine -
on the inventive side of things (think kangaroo steak in bacon-and-shrimp cream or lobster
salad with tomato confit, mushrooms and truffle). There are tasting menus at €25 and €40,
plus a daily menu at €18, otherwise mains mostly €15-20. Mon-Sat 1.30-4pm & 8-11pm.
