EATING AND DRINKING
The pretty old-town squares, like Pl. del Rei, Pl. del Fòrum and Pl. de la Font are the best
places for outdoor drinks and meals. The last in particular features more than a dozen
cafés
,
bars and restaurants
serving everything from
pintxos
to pizzas. Otherwise, a good place
for lunch is down in
Serrallo
, Tarragona's so-called fishermen's quarter, a 15min walk west
along the industrial harbourfront from the train station, where you'll get a tasty paella.
La Cuineta
c/Nou del Patriarca 2 977 226 101.
Stylish all-day café that has a big choice
of breakfast sandwiches and pastries, followed by lunch from 1pm, where €15 gets you a
good meal from a wide-ranging menu - sautéed mussels to chicken with prunes.

all similarly priced at around €12.50 but locals plump for the reliably good Catalan food at
El Pigot
- from summer salads to signature rice and
fideuà
dishes. Main dishes otherwise
cost around €11-25. And don't forget an ice cream afterwards from
Sirvent
, the well-known
parlour just a few doors down the square.
