kept this 23-year-old restaurant's cosy dining room full of tourists and locals alike. Daily

Baron c/de Sant Gaudenci 17 no phone. Definitely not a style bar, but an old tavern that's a
real slice of Sitges nonetheless. It's nowhere near the sea, so there's more of a down-to-earth
local crowd. Mon-Fri 9am-3pm & 6-11pm, Sat 10am-3pm & 6-11.30pm, Sun (June-Aug
only) 11.30am-3pm.
Parrot's Pub Pl. de l'Industria 938 941 350, parrots-sitges.com . The stalwart of the
gay bar scene in Sitges, with seats under shaded parasols. Parrot's also now has a stylish
Mediterranean hotel and restaurant (dinner only) next door. Daily 11am-2am.

from the main crowds, just right for an ice-cold beer or sundowner cocktail. It's a bit more
pub-like than many in town, and generally attracts an older clientele. Daily 5pm-midnight,

Montserrat
Themountainof Montserrat ,withitsrockcrags,vastmonasteryandhermitagecaves,stands
just 40km northwest of Barcelona, off the road to Lleida. It's the most popular day-trip from
the city, reached in around ninety minutes by train and then cable-car or mountain railway
for a thrilling ride up to the monastery. Once there, you can visit the basilica and monastery
buildings, and complete your day with a walk around the woods and crags, using the two fu-
nicular railways that depart from the monastery complex. There are cafés and restaurants at
the monastery, but they are relatively pricey, none too inspiring and very busy at peak times
