ratios of the 58 large specimens according to the ACI method (see Section
8.3.1.1) are plotted in Figure 8.22. The

exp

ratios vary from 1.0 to about 2.0. Obviously,
the accuracy of the ACI method in predicting the shear strengths is not as good as the UH
method. This is because the ACI method is strongly influenced by the small and older test spec-
imens, while the UH method places more emphasis on the large and more recent specimens.
