of moment after yielding of the floor beam should not be utilized. The excessive amount of
web reinforcement in the spandrel beams required by elastic analysis is therefore wasteful and
unnecessary.
In specimen B5, an insufficient amount of web reinforcement was provided. Figure 7.19
shows that torques decrease after cracking. Figure 7.20 also shows the brittle torsional failure
that occurred in the spandrel beam before the yielding of longitudinal bars in the floor beam.
