In-Depth Information
Just below it is Medallion Number 112 in the upper part of Rue Lepic, where it is
composed of the business premises of small specialty businesses (lawyers, accountants,
antique dealers, and consultancies).
The real Moulin de la Galette is in the park above here, the highest point on the
Paris Meridian within the Péripherique. As such, the windmill can readily be seen
from the Observatory located left (west) of the Cathedral of the Sacré Coeur. On
private land near the windmill is the northern equivalent of the mire at Parc
Montsouris. The stone pillar is on private land and can be visited only by applica-
tion to the caretaker at 1 Boulevard Junot. Its situation among suburban clutter is a
disgrace to a historic monument.
Medallion Number 113 lies under the Moulin de la Galette, in Av. Junot. Northwards
the meridian passes through residential apartments to the Porte de Clignacourt area
of the Périphérique ring road (Numbers. 114-119).
