Adding PostGIS layers - gvSIG
gvSIGisaGISpackagedevelopedforthe Generalitat Valenciana ( gv )inSpain.SIG
istheSpanishequivalentofGIS.Intendedforuseallovertheworld,gvSIGisavail-
able inmore than a dozen languages.

TodownloadgvSIG,clickonthelatestversion(gvSIG2.0,asofthiswriting).Theall-
included version is recommended on the gvSIG site. Be careful while selecting the
.exe or .bin versions;otherwise,youmaydownloadtheprograminalanguagethat
you don't understand.
Getting ready
Before we begin, we have to deal with the incompatibility between PostGIS 2.0 and
gvSIG.OlderfunctionsthathavebeenleftoutofPostGIS2.0areneededforthisre-
cipe.Luckily,dealingwithincompatibilityissuesisaquickandeasyfixwhenyouper-
form the following steps:
1. Search for legacy.sql in your PostgreSQL directory. It should be at the
following location:
C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\9.2\share\contrib\postgis-2.0
2. Open the file with Notepad select all and copy.
3. Load pgAdmin III and open a SQL window.
4. Pastethecontentsfrom legacy.sql intotheSQLwindow,andclickon Run .
A second or so later, you should be all set!
