bistro, this relatively new addition to the Hillhead
neighbourhood adjacent to the university dishes up

inexpensive bohemian hangout that overlooks the Kelvin
River, serving savoury vegetarian options (try the red dahl
curry at £5.90), cakes, snacks and a selection of teas from

185. A modern espresso café-bar offering an array of lattes,
cappuccinos and the like. One of the trendiest offerings in

pp.184-185. This institution dates from the 1910s and has
been adored by at least three generations of students and
West End residents, with its formica tables in snug booths,
glass counters and original architectural features. The
favourites here are fish'n'chips or mince'n'tatties rounded
off with an ice-cream cone - you won't spend more than a
tenner per head. Mon-Thurs 9am-10pm, Fri-Sat
9am-10.30pm, Sun 10am-10pm.

courses of chic Scottish food (£30) with a hint of Irish
influence, in a cosy, rather old-fashioned restaurant, and is
also known for the live entertainment sing-alongs on a
