28 DMBT and TDMB
In this chapter, two standards will be discussed which are apparently simi-
lar, but in reality are only similar as far as their titles are concerned, and
the methods, aims and details of which are completely different - namely
DMB-T and T-DMB.
28.1 DMBT
DMB-T (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting - Terrestrial) is a Chinese stan-
dard developed by the Tsinghua University in Beijing which, like DVB-T,
is aimed at broadcasting television economically terrestrially by digital
means and with modern supplementary services. DMB-T was published in
2006 - at least in excerpts - as “GB20600-2006 - Framing Structure,
Channel Coding and Modulation for Digital Terrestrial Television Broad-
casting System“.

The modulation method used is TD-COFDM (Time Domain Coded Or-
thogonal Frequency Division Multiplex). The guard-interval is here filled
not with the end of the symbol (CP = cyclic prefix) following but with a
