force for each joint through experimentation. If the bodies come apart even when the joint
is at rest, you'll know that the breaking force is too low.
Caution If a discrete Breaking force is set, its value should be equal to or
smaller than Max force to avoid accuracy issues when resolving collisions.
Editing Pivot-Joint Properties
Let me run down the remaining properties specific to pivot joints, starting with the Refer-
ence property, which is shown at the bottom of Figure 9-5 .
The Reference property determines the reference angle for the Spring and Limit sections.
If Spring is enabled, the Reference property determines the direction of the spring; for the
Limit , the Reference property determines the center angle of the Min / Max value. It is
probably more instructive to just enable either Spring or Limit , and then change the Refer-
ence angle to see its effect. Be sure to reset Reference to 0 and uncheck Spring and Limit
once you are done.
