The remote control unit and the socket unit
As you can see from the remote it can control more than one power socket device too. By using a remote control
you gain a few advantages.
The first one is that you won't get electrocuted by the AC mains voltage.

I have opened my unit to show you that it's using a relay device to do the AC mains switching (take a look at
Figure
10-6
) but I could easily tell it was a relay from the click sound. You don't need to open your unit and I would
recommend against it; the image is for demonstration purposes only and is not required to complete the project.
The second part is that it gives you the best form of isolation for the Raspberry Pi.
