In-Depth Information
1. In the Manage Security window's Accounts tab, click the admin account to select
it and then click Edit (or double-click the Admin account) .
The Edit Account window appears ( Figure 18-15 ).
2. In the Account Name window, type your first initial and last name .
That's a common Account name scheme. But Account names must be unique, so if
you have a John Smith and a Jane Smith, somebody needs to use a middle initial or
some other letters to make the Account Name unique.
3. In the Password field, type any password .
Passwords can take any mix of alphanumeric characters and uppercase and lowercase
characters you like.
4. Click OK until all dialog boxes are closed .
When you click OK to close the Manage Security Window, FileMaker requires you to
enter the new account name and password you just created. Click OK when you've
done so. Now that you've assigned a password to the Admin account, the next time
you open this file, FileMaker asks you for an account name and password.
NOTE
Account names aren't case-sensitive, but passwords are. If the Account Name or the password in-
cludes spaces, then make sure you type them precisely or you can't log in. FileMaker gives you five
chances to log in and then it stops showing you the login dialog box. But you aren't blocked per-
manently. You can try again right away.
