In-Depth Information
Start in the file where you want the script(s) to appear. Choose Scripts→Manage Scripts to
open the Manage Scripts dialog box and then click the Import button (it looks like a docu-
ment with a curved arrow on it). Use the Open File dialog box to find the file that contains
the script(s) you want to import. After you select the file and click Open (enter an Account
Name and Password if the file is protected), the Import Scripts window appears, showing a
list of all the scripts in the file. Click in the checkbox to the left of each script you want to
import and then click OK.
NOTE
FileMaker Pro 13 can only import scripts from files with an .fmp12 extension. See Appendix B for
more information on file conversion.
As each script is imported, FileMaker does its best to match the referenced elements in each
script step to the elements in the new file. Fields are matched using their fully qualified
names ( Adding a Portal to a Layout ). If layout names match exactly (case doesn't matter),
steps pointing to them come in cleanly. FileMaker shows an Import Summary window that
lets you know how many errors occurred during the import ( Figure 17-2 ). Errors are easy to
identify: You'll see “<unknown>” where the elements broke. Repoint each broken step to the
proper elements in the new file. Even if no errors are reported, it's good practice to review
and test the script to make sure it works properly in the new context.
