In-Depth Information
Figure 16-8. In FileMaker's Preferences window, The Plug-ins tab shows you the configurable
plug-ins you've installed. (Some plug-ins, like the Web plug-in, aren't configurable, so they don't
show up in this list.) Disable a plug-in by turning off the checkbox by its name. If a plug-in requires
any configuration, select it in the list and then click Configure. When you have a plug-in selected,
you see a description of it below the list.
Creating Your Own Plug-ins
If you're feeling adventurous (or have helpful programmer friends), you can create your own
plug-ins. To do that, you need FileMaker Pro Advanced, and the FileMaker Pro Plug-in SDK
(Software Development Kit), which you can download at www.filemaker.com/support/tech-
nologies/ . The download includes a sample project for Mac and Windows and sample plug-in
code to get you started. You also need a C++ development environment. In Windows, you're
best off with Visual C++ or Visual Studio.NET. On OS X, you can use XCode (a free down-
load when you sign up for Apple's developer program).
