3. Drag the double arrow to the left of a field name to rearrange the columns .
The columns behind the dialog box move as you rearrange the list.
4. Click OK when you're done .
The dialog box disappears, and you're back to an unobstructed Table view.
Figure 2-3. Modify Table View lets you change the order of your columns. Deselect a field name to
keep it from appearing in Table view. There's a Plus button on the lower left that lets you add fields
from your table that aren't displayed in Form view. Although it looks like a regular field in Form
view, you can see that the Notes::Notes field has an odd-looking name. That's because it comes
from a related table. You'll learn about related tables and fields in Chapter 5.
Modifying Table View in Layout Mode
The Modify Table View dialog box seems powerful, but you can make only a limited set of
changes to a layout with it. To see all the changes you can make, you need to tap into Layout
Mode. Here's how:
1. Choose View Layout Mode, or press Ctrl+L ( -L) .
FileMaker switches to Layout mode, showing you the structure of your Form view.
Although this window is where you usually go to change the way Form view looks,
you can also change Table view in this mode.
2. Choose Layouts Layout Setup .
The Layout Setup dialog box appears. You can ignore all these settings for now, but
see Part Setup Dialog Box if you want to know what these options do.
3. Click the Views tab .
