In-Depth Information
or you can store a reference to the file. These script steps let you place files into container
fields:
Insert from URL lets you use several Internet protocols (http, https, ftp, ftps, and file)
to copy files from the Web or from a local computer to a container field. In Windows,
container fields optimized for images can render .gif, .jpg, .png, .bmp, and .tiff files. On
the Mac, they can render all these, plus .jpg2, .tif, .fpx, .psd, .tga, .mac, and .qif files.
Other images may show up as thumbnails. When a container field is optimized for inter-
active files, you can also insert PDF files on both platforms.
Insert Picture lets the user choose an image file to insert into a container field that's
optimized for images. Options let you specify a source file for insertion or store only a
reference to a file. A container field must be active when the script runs for this step to
work, so unless you're letting the user choose a field before she runs your script, you
should use a Go to Field step to activate the target container field.
Insert QuickTime lets the user choose a QuickTime file to insert into a container field
that's optimized for images. The step has no option to specify a target container field, so
it may require a Go to Field step. QuickTime files are always inserted as references
only. This means that other users of the file must have access to the volume on which the
QuickTime file is stored in order to view it.
Insert Audio/Video lets the user choose an audio or video file to insert into an inter-
active container field. The step has no option to specify a target container field, so it may
require a Go to Field step. It does have an option to store only a reference to the file,
though.
Insert PDF lets the user choose a PDF file to insert into an interactive container field.
The step has no option to specify a target container field, so it may require a Go to
Field step. It has an option to store only a reference to the file.
Insert File has so many options that it needs a full section to describe them all. Read
about it next.
