choose the “Slide control” option, and then drag out a rectangle when you want the
slide control to appear.
Figure 8-37. The Slide Control Setup window is where you determine how the control be-
haves. You can enable swipe gestures (applicable to FileMaker Go) and show or hide the
navigation dots at the bottom of the slide control. Turning off both of those options is per-
fectly valid, but unless you use scripting to devise your own navigation system, database
users will be able to see exactly one panel.
3. Using the Field Picker, drag the First Name, Last Name, Address, City, State, Zip
Code, and Email Address fields onto the new slide control .
You've just placed all of these fields on the slide control's first panel.
4. Click the middle navigation dot at the bottom of the slide control to display the
second slide panel .
Those three dots are clickable buttons that do the job of traditional tabs. If you choose
not to display them by unchecking “Show navigation dots” in the Slide Control Setup
window, you'll have to move among the panels using the left and right triangle but-
tons.
5. Drag the Notes field on to panel and resize it to fill most of the space .
You'll want to give your users plenty of place for notes.
6. Click the right navigation dot and drag the Composer Photo field into the panel .
Using a slide control you've tucked record information three layers deep without sac-
rificing readability on a handheld device.
