Figure 8-26. Now when you make the window bigger, the notes and address fields (State and Zip
excepting) get bigger, too. If any of the expanding fields starts to overlap another object on the lay-
out, go back into Layout mode and make sure that all the objects to the right of the expanding field
are anchored to the right but not the left. Similarly, anything below a vertically expanding layout
object must be anchored at the bottom but not the top.
To get your People List layout with merge fields into shape, set the anchors as follows:
▪ Anchor the horizontal line on the left and right so it stretches the full width of the win-
dow.
▪ Anchor the three text objects with merge fields on the left and right. This way, if the win-
dow gets wider, then you can see more of the address, for instance.
▪ Anchor the Status field and Details button on the right, but not the left. They'll slide to
the right and stay out of the way as the text object to their left gets bigger.
If you try things out in Browse mode now, as you make the window wider, the line should al-
ways span the full width, and the objects on the right should stay close to the right edge.
