Checkbox Set
Figure 7-24 shows a field formatted as a checkbox set. With this format, people can simply
click each item to turn it on or off. As they do, the data in the field changes to reflect the
checked items.
Checkbox sets can include the Other item, just like a pop-up menu. If someone enters a value
that isn't in the value list, then FileMaker just turns on the Other checkbox to indicate that
the field has something more in it.
Figure 7-24. When you format a field as a checkbox set, it looks like the City field shown here.
FileMaker adds one checkbox for each item in the value list and arranges them to neatly fill the
boundaries of the field. You can apply borders, fills, and effects to a field like this—they affect the
entire area the checkbox set covers.
Radio Button Set
A radio button set (see Figure 7-25 ) works much like a checkbox set. The only distinction is
that folks can turn on only one item. Click one value, and any previously selected value is
cleared out. These buttons work much like those on car radios—only one can be selected at a
time. When you change the channel from, say, smooth jazz to light rock/less talk, the station
you were listening to is dropped and the new station takes its place.
