Copying Object and Part Styles
Back on Using the Inspector , you customized the Header's part to make your logo stand out
from the gray background. That process required several steps, including a trip to the Color
palette. If you followed the tutorial and saved the changes to the header's style and the file's
theme, you can select your header part and then apply your edited style. But if you've forgot-
ten to save changes to a style, applying the style on a new layout won't apply those changes.
One fix is to go back to the layout that has the changes and then save style and theme
changes. But there's a pair of buttons on the Inspector that can easily move a style onto a
new layout for you. Make sure you're in Layout mode and that your Inspector is visible.
1. On the Lease Agreement layout, click the Header label to select it. On the In-
spector's Appearance tab, click the blue button with the up arrow ( Figure 3-18 ) .
This button copies the style of the selected object, or in this case, the selected layout
part.
Figure 3-18. The Copy/Paste Style buttons on the Inspector work on both layout objects
and layout parts. As with the other tools on the Inspector, you can get information about the
Copy/Paste Style buttons by hovering over them with your mouse. Wait a second or so, and
a tooltip appears.
2. Switch to the Lease Agreement List layout and then select its Header part .
The blue button with the down arrow is highlighted, telling you that the style is ready
to be copied to the selected object.
3. Click the blue button with the down arrow .
