mon topics, like hot topics from the Knowledge Base, Updaters & Documentation, and
News.
All these outside links, plus links to Downloads, Training, and Consultants are also found in
the Support menu on FileMaker's website. This and other help available from FileMaker,
Inc., is detailed later on in this appendix.
FileMaker's Installed Extras
The installation package for FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Pro Advanced includes a suite of
ways to get extra help for FileMaker. In Windows, you can find these helpers at Program
Files→FileMaker→FileMaker Pro 13→English Extras. And on the Mac, look in Applica-
tions→FileMaker Pro 13→English Extras.
NOTE
The installer program always installs online help, but the other items are optional. In the Install pan-
el of the installation wizard, choose Custom Install to pick which of the optional files you want in-
stalled. When you choose the Easy Install option, you get everything . If FileMaker is installed on
your computer, but the helpers listed here are missing, you can then perform a Custom Install and
choose the helper files you need without having to uninstall and reinstall FileMaker. (These files are
also available in the Downloads section at www.filemaker.com .)
▪ Electronic Documentation . This folder includes the Installation and New Features
Guide for FileMaker Pro 13 and FileMaker Pro 13 Advanced in PDF format. If you have
used previous version of FileMaker, you may expect to find additional user's guides in
this folder. Choose Help→Product Documentation to see them.
▪ FMP13 Getting Started.fmp12 . A guided tour to FileMaker Pro's key features.
▪ FMP13 Layouts.fmp12 . A tutorial on creating basic layouts.
▪ FMP13 Viewing Data.fmp12 . A very brief tutorial on different ways to view data.
▪ Templates . More than 30 template files you can customize. These are the templates the
Starter Solutions use (see next section), so always make a copy of the file before you
make any modifications. Any changes you make to the templates will affect files created
through the Starter Solutions in the future.
