ACCOMMODATION
There's almost no on-the-beach accommodation and no real sea views but most places are
an easy stroll from the water. Theft from rooms is an occasional problem: always lock your
room and outside-bathroom door, including when you're asleep inside. Try to book ahead in
July and August and in late December, when rooms are harder to find.

looking new hotel in a coconut grove with six pretty bungalows around a small pool . Cheaper

American-run home-stay with ten cheap rooms and a pool, near the market in the vil lage
centre. Basic rooms have fans and cold water; a few have a/c and hot showers. Rp175,000

there are ten rooms here. The simplest have bamb oo walls a nd squat toilets; newer, pricier
ones with a/c are more robust and nicely furnished. Rp150,000

range hotel with more than two-dozen good-quality, Bali-style rooms in buildings around a
large garden compound with a swi mming pool. Som e have hot water and a/c, and the top-end

run by a hospitable Balinese-English family, this tiny, spotless homestay, 2km north of the
beach (with free daytime transport), is very good value - though earplugs may be necessary
due to the nearby road and mosque. There's one hot-water room with a/c, one cold-water
room with fan, and a two-storey hou se, all wit h DVD players and safety boxes, plus motor-

ated on its own stretch of white-sand beach, a 15min walk from Seger beach, and 3km by road
from central Kuta. It's designed to resemble a thatch-roofed village of 102 tastefully decor-
ated rooms, some with private pools. There's a large seafront poo l (Rp50,000 for nonguests)
and a spa, plus lots of activities such as diving and kayaking. $136

teen clean, good-quality bungalows in a large garden, all of them with ho t water and a/c.
There's a pool and a large new restaurant with views across to the beach. $57

with twenty rooms in many different styles and standards. Bottom-end options are very basic
(with squat toilets) but some of the mid-priced ones are good quality and a few hav e a/c. Safe
