Unzipp Bar
Popular with beach boys, expats and visitors, this is a fun place to spend the
evening listening to mainstream dance music and regular live music, and working through
the cocktail menu.

Warung Sasak
A highly regarded beachside local warung, and one of the last locally owned
beachfront places on the island. Try

Banks and exchange
There are several ATMs by the harbour; money can be changed at
some shops but rates are poor; some dive shops can forward cash from credit cards for a
6-10 percent fee.

the closest hospital is in Mataram.
Post
There's no post office on the island.
North Lombok
The focus of any visit to
north Lombok
is
Gunung Rinjani
, Lombok's highest and most
sacred volcano. Climbing the mountain is a popular though very challenging undertaking that
takes a minimum of two days, but there are plenty of alternative attractions in the area, not
least the dramatic mountain scenery, several waterfalls that can be accessed on short hikes,
and a couple of traditional Sasak villages. It's perfectly possible to visit the Rinjani area on a
day-trip from Senggigi, but if you're reliant on public transport you'll need to stay over - and
you generally get the clearest views of the mountain in the early morning. There's accom-
modation in the villages at the start of the mountain trails, as well as some luxurious hotels on
the beautiful
north-coast beaches
. Approaching Rinjani from the south, you'll find a couple
of inviting villages in the foothills offering a chance to enjoy rural life, gentle treks and ex-
hilarating mountain views.
Bangsal to Bayan
Gunung Rinjani is usually accessed via the
coast road
that runs north from Pemenang, near
Bangsal
(25km north of Senggigi and 27.5km north of Mataram), the harbour for public
boats to the Gili Islands. Lombok's best hotels occupy beaches along here and there are a
couple of waterfalls, a traditional Sasak village and Lombok's oldest mosque, all of which
can be woven into a day-trip from Senggigi. The district capital of
Tanjung
, 14km up the
road from Bengsal, has an
