Banks and exchange There are ATMs at the main resorts all around the island. Changing
money is possible, but rates are better on the mainland. Some dive companies offer advances
on Visa and MasterCard, but you'll pay up to ten percent for this.
Clinic Trawangan Medical Clinic ( 0370 666 6696, trawanganmedicalclin-
ic@gmail.com ) , signposted down the alley south of the art market, is open 24hr. There's
another clinic at Vila Ombak ( 0370 642336). The nearest hospital is in Mataram. Air Bali
can perform emergency helicopter airlifts to Bali.
Post There's a postal agent in the art market (Mon-Fri 9am-4pm).
Shopping Stalls and shops along the east coast and in the small art market ( pasar seni ) sell
daily necessities, beachwear, fashions and secondhand books.
Gili Meno
GILI MENO , 2km long and just over 1km wide, is the smallest and most tranquil of the
islands, with a local population of just 350, plenty of space for solitary horizon-gazing and
some gorgeous deserted beaches. It takes a couple of hours to stroll around the island, with
views across to Gili Air and Lombok from the east and Trawangan and Bali's Gunung Agung
to the west. As on the other Gilis, there's no motorized transport, just a few cidomo (horse
carts); bicycles aren't widely available, but ask at your accommodation.
The snorkelling is good, especially between Reef and Kontiki on the east coast, as well as
on the northwest at the Meno Wall, near Diana Café , and down at the disused Bounty jetty.
Check locally for advice on currents (see Diving and snorkelling off the Gili Islands ).
