Warung Bambu Jl Hotel Puri Bagus, Pemaron 0362 27080. Overlooking ricefields,
this bamboo-built restaurant serves fine Balinese and Indonesian dishes - zingy curries as hot
as you request, tuna with aromatic sauce steamed in banana leaves (Rp55,000) or, for a blow-
out, a twelve-dish rijsttafel (Rp175,000), all cooked fresh. Also has Balinese dancing every
Wednesday and Sunday evening, plus free transport in the Lovina area. Daily 11am-11pm.
DRINKING AND NIGHTLIFE
Kantin 21 Jl Raya, Kalibukbuk 0362 343 5635. The bar “where the party never ends”, ap-
parently. Either way it's a nicely scruffy, laidback place that gets progressively more boozy
(blame the cheap arak cocktails) as reggae rocks the place; expect bands at weekends. Daily
6pm-midnight.
Pashaa Jl Raya, Kalibukbuk. Tech-house and electro-cheese dominates in the only nightclub
in central Lovina - small and nothing to get too excited about. Be prepared, too, for “go go
girls” on Saturday, when entry costs Rp35,000. Mon-Sat 9pm-2am.
Spunky's Bar and Restaurant Jl Starlight, Banyualit 0337 365094. The bar that sun-
downers are made of due to a superb shoreside location: settle into a bleached wood chair
and sip juices, a chilled Bintang or cocktails from arak mixes to a tequila sunrise (Rp60,000).
Daily 9am-11pm.
Volcano Club Jl Raya Lovina, Banyualit 0337 412222. Lovina's largest and most bizarre
club is in a strange concrete cave of a building - imagine a nightclub à la Flintstones - and is
more a hit with locals. Expect so-so dance music (a “mild wet party”,for example) plus very
occasional gigs. Entry Rp30,000. Sat 6pm-2am, plus Thurs & Fri 6pm-2am in high season.
Zigiz Jl Pantai Binaria, Kalibukbuk. A tiny, lively bar over two levels - upstairs provides a
nice lounge area - with live acoustic music most evenings plus cheap cocktails - a Singapore
Sling will set you back Rp65,000. Also shows major sports events. Daily 4pm-midnight.
