Perama tourist shuttle buses pass through Candikuning on their Ubud-Lovina

By bemo
Candikuning sits on a main north-south road, so is served by bemo services to and
from Denpasar and Singaraja. Local bemos also beetle around the area; the main terminal is
north of Candikuning in Pancasar. No bemos go to Danau Tamblingan.

By car and motorbike
Danau Bratan is 53km north of Denpasar and 30km south of Singa-
raja on the main Denpasar-Mengwi-Singaraja road; no direct route links it to Batur, but if
you're feeling intrepid it's a fun slalom across on back roads. Access to Danau Tamblingan
is via the road that runs west from Wanagiri, 2km north of Pancasari, along the ridge above
the northern shore of Danau Buyan - look for signs to Podok Kesuma Wisata.
ACCOMMODATION
Because of the cool climate up here (down to 10°C at night), no accommodation offers fans
or air-conditioning - you'll be more interested in thick quilts and hot water. Accommodation
in the area caters mostly to domestic tourists and is fairly run-down - you get far better beds
for your bucks in Munduk.

Probably the most peaceful accommodation in Candikuning is within the gar-
dens, from a VIP hotel-style block - actually just plain three-star hotel rooms - to more mod-
ern cottages. Some rooms enjoy pretty views, the cheapest share bathrooms, but all have
hot
water, free breakfast and complimentary entry to the Botanic Gardens. Book well ahead.
