ACCOMMODATION AND EATING
Though there are a couple of warung with basic nasi campur or ayam sopa (chicken soup),
most eating around Danau Batur will be in the losmen, which have menus that could be
photocopies - local fresh fish, usually grilled or served as a soup, is ubiquitous, alongside
Indonesian standards, and all are open 8am-9pm. We've highlighted those that appeal for
location.
ALONG THE CRATER RIM
Lakeview Eco Lodge Penelokan 0366 52525, lakeviewbali.com . It's overpriced (and
that “Eco” tag seems to be greenwash), but you're paying for the finest panorama in the area
- rooms seem almost to hang over the crater's lip. The larger hotel recently closed half its
opera tion and now offers just twelve Deluxe rooms; they're small but modern - and what a
view. $104
Miranda Kintomani 0366 52022. No views and the en-suite rooms are basic (with mandi
in cold-water rooms - hot water costs an extra Rp50,000), but this is a friendly little homestay
that's handy for public transport; all bemos and buses pass. The big draw is owner Made

DANAU BATUR AND AROUND
Arlina's Toya Bungkah 0366 51165, [e-mail] . At the southern end
of the village, a so-so losmen with decent, if dated, rooms decorated with Balinese daubs and
kooky grotto-style bathrooms (some with hot water) built of laval rock. Its US P is a gar den
with three hot-spring plunge-pools beneath the volcano (Rp75,000 nonguests). Rp350,000

has two options: bright, comfy bungalows with floor-to-ceiling windows in the garden
(Rp500,000) or a dozen ultraba sic rooms in the main losmen, with cold-water bathrooms but

above other local accommodation, this peaceful place has several well-furnished options.
Choose from two bright, modern bungalows, two cosy, cabin-like lumbung -style huts or, the
pick of the bunch, f four spacio us new bungalows on the shore (Rp500,000) with picture-win-

segarahotel.com . One of the larger outfits hereabouts, this has 38 losmen rooms, set round
a yard, with various grades of comfort: from basic cold-water Economy, via Standards
with hot wate r (Rp300 ,000), to spacious Superiors with king-size beds, TVs and bathtubs
