Grand Café Padang Bai Harbour Jl Pantai Segara 0363 434 5043. Classy and popular
harbour-view place with comfy rattan chairs, a dozen “bio” health juices and cappuccinos.
The food is good and includes pizzas, sate campur , grilled fish with garlic sauce, kebabs and
steaks. Mains from Rp35,000. Daily 7am-10pm.
Martini's Jl Segara 0818 0559 0450. The best warung in town, run by former beach
hawker Martini and her ambitious children. It's popular, so book a table for a feast of shrimps
with potato chips or one of the home-made curries (Rp40,000), fried rice (Rp20,000) and de-
licious Balinese pancakes with palm syrup. Facing the car park. Daily 7am-11pm.
Topi Inn Jl Silayukti 99 0363 41424, topiinn.net . Has a menu several centimetres thick,
with great bread, cakes, cappuccinos and a ton of imaginative vegetarian dishes - including
Mediterranean salads. Mains cost from Rp43,000; the seafood pizza is Rp75,000. Sells dried
fruit and other takeaway snacks, and does water refills too. Keep an eye out for the regular
movie and party nights. Daily 7.30am-10pm.
Warung Lesehan Merta Sari Jl Kresna, Desa Pesinggahan village. The warung along the
road just west of Goa Lawah are famous for their fresh fish dishes. One of the most highly
rated is the simple Warung Lesehan Merta Sari . To find it, turn off the main road 1.5km west
of Goa Lawah and drive or walk straight for 1.2km. For a bargain Rp20,000 you get a deli-
cious set meal of fish soup, fish sate, steamed fish and rice and veg. Daily 8am-7pm.
Warung Segara Ayu Jl Silayukti 085 33746 3610. At the top of some steps on the way
to the Blue Lagoon (keep climbing for a short cut), this breezy, homely warung has har-
bour views, does cheap fruit juices (Rp6000) and makes excellent, inexpensive nasi goreng
(Rp19,000). Daily 8am-9pm.
DRINKING AND NIGHTLIFE
Several tiny live music bars open onto the car park inland from the jetty, with tables spilling
out onto the street and a battle of the sound systems nightly from around 9pm.
Babylon Reggae Bar Jl Segara. Tiny, perennially busy late-night drinking and music venue
with local musos playing Javanese and international hits every Tuesday, Thursday and
Friday. Cocktail specialities include the potent Arak Tonic Sprite, or the Crazy Bob Bali for
Rp25,000. Daily 5pm-3am.
Moonlight Bar Jl Segara. Tiny bar with only a handful of tables, serving beer and cocktails
(their Long Island Ice Tea is Rp30,000). There's live rock and mellow music every Wednes-
day, Friday and Sunday. Daily 5pm-3am.
