Banks and exchange There are ATMs and exchange counters all over Sanur; some of
the latter receive reports, so go to an ATM if possible or use one of the banks along Jl
Danau Tamblingan. If you're heading to Nusa Lembongan, note the only ATM on the is-
land is Mastercard-only and erratic at that; the most convenient mainland ATM is at Dunkin'
Donuts on the corner of the bypass/ferry road, and at the Permata Bank.

Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida
It's amazing what 20km of sea will do. Even compared to Sanur, the islands of Nusa Lem-
bongan , Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Penida across the Badung Strait seem a throwback to
the Bali of twenty years ago. This is the Bali of laidback villages and bumpy lanes winding
through mangroves; a place of fine white sand and turquoise water, of spectacular sunsets on
the beach as time slips by at a lovely lazy pace. Small wonder many people come for two
days and find themselves on the return boat two weeks later.
Of course, there's more to these islands than idle days scrunching white sand between your
toes. Encircled by superbly clear water and healthy reef, they offer outstanding diving and
challenging surfing . There's even industry of sorts - seaweed farming is still the major
source of income for most islanders.
