In-Depth Information
Bualu
Just outside the gates of Nusa Dua the village of
BUALU
is where you'll find the densest
concentration of
banjar
, temples, warung, family homes and commerce, particularly along
Jalan Srikandi. It's the sort of scene common to any small Balinese town, but a worthwhile
target if you want to explore beyond the rareified confines of Nusa Dua itself.
Pantai Geger
About a 1km drive from the golf course or a 20min walk along the beach from
Ayodya Resort
- without your
own transport take a metered taxi to Pantai Geger; an informal service will take you back
For a day out from the beach that fringes Nusa Dua head south towards the
Nikko Bali Resort
& Spa
and follow signs for
Pantai Geger
. The broad, white-sand beach is quieter than that
in Nusa Dua, although much of the southern end, below the clifftop temple, Pura Geger, is
given over to seaweed farming.
Tanjung Benoa
Not to be confused with
Benoa Harbour
just north of
TANJUNG BENOA
's tip, the
beach
here is more activity-based than the groomed stretches of Nusa Dua; a venue for the happy
hordes to go banana boating, parasailing or windsurfing. It also has the dubious distinction of
being the centre of Bali's
turtle trade
.
Inland Tanjung Benoa has a few points of interest. At the northern tip, there's an impressive
coral-carved
Hindu temple
, a gaudy red-painted
Chinese temple
and the restrained contours
of a mosque within a few hundred metres of each other. Follow any of the lanes running west
from the middle stretch of Jalan Pratama to find typical Balinese warung, fruit and veg stalls
and family compounds.
