BEACH CLUBS
For a day of fine food, style, sun and sunset beside the breakers, it's hard to beat the growing
proliferation of beach clubs - some like Ku Dé Ta and Mozaic offer superb cuisine (but you'll
need deep pockets).
Cocoon Beach Club Jl Double Six, Legian 0361 731266; map . There's a clubby vibe to
this self-consciously hip modern dining, drinking and lounging venue; punters come for the
large pool, quality modern Oz food (mains Rp130,000) around and decent cocktail menu.
Daily 10am-3am.
Envy Holiday Inn, Jl Wana Segara 33, Tuban 0361 752527, envy-bali.com ; map . This
fabulously located beachside bar/restaurant, is arguably the best of Kuta's beach places,
which run south of the Discovery mall. It's certainly the most relaxed, a great sunset
option for cocktails like passionfruit and vanilla mojitos and light pizzas and pasta. Daily
11am-11pm.
Ku Dé Ta Jl Kayu Aya 9 0361 736969; map . One of southern Bali's most famous venues
remains a cut above for sophisticated dining and relaxing beachside. The sea views are as
breathtaking as the prices on the modern European dinner menu (Rp300,000 for sweet black
miso cod) - lunches such as chargrilled squid with white bean and chorizo are more afford-
able (Rp120,000). Often hosts club nights too. Daily 8am-1pm.
La Plancha Seminyak Beach; map . With its blast of colour, this little beach shack feels
more Mexico than Bali. Alongside lazy beach vibes and beats, it serves a small menu of tapas
favourites (Rp55,000) plus chicken and seafood (from Rp70,000). Come early to bag a cush-
ion on the beach. Daily usually 7am-11pm but occasional parties until 3am.
Mozaic Beach Club Jl Pantai Batu Belig 0361 473 5796; map . The beach club of one of
Ubud's (and Bali's) most celebrated restaurants. There's tapas (Rp50,000) in the bar, fine-
dining in an astonishing restaurant (7.30-11pm) which prepares elegant Asian dishes like
slipper lobster with kaffir lime and shaved fennel (Rp130,000), and a pool for the sunset.
Daily 10am-midnight.
Potato Head Kerobokan beach, off Jl Petitenget 0361 473 7979, ptthead.com ; map .
With an exterior clad in old shutters, this effortlessly hip beach club shouts style. Eclectic
retro furnishings tap into the glamour of Fifties Miami, but really it's about great modern
food, great chilled beats and great views of the waves as you laze by the pool on a day bed.
Daily 11am-2am.
NIGHTLIFE
Welcome to the most diverse nightlife on Bali; several clubs churn out sounds until 6am.
Where you go depends on your style. Kuta is nightlife is loud and laddish - this is the drunken
