In-Depth Information
BY BEMO
Public bemos in south Bali ply limited routes through the Kuta area. From Denpasar's Tegal
terminal , the dark-blue Tegal-Kuta-Legian bemo goes via Bemo Corner and runs clockwise
via Jl Pantai Kuta, Jl Melasti and north up Jl Legian as far as Jl Yudistira (Jl Padma), before
returning back down Jl Legian to Bemo Corner again. If you're staying in south Kuta, note
that drivers generally drop passengers on the eastern edge of Jl Bakung Sari - a 5min walk
from Bemo Corner. Coming by bemo from Jimbaran, you'll probably be dropped off at the
same place. Arrival from elsewhere in Bali by bemo almost always entails going via Denpas-
ar, where you'll probably have to make at least one cross-city connection.
Destinations Denpasar (Tegal terminal; 35min); Jimbaran (30min); Ngurah Rai Airport
(20min); Nusa Dua (Bali Collection; 40min).
BY BUS
After years of prevarication, a new public bus service, the Trans Sarbagita, is up and running.
That said, it is barely advertised and few locals know it exists let alone tourists. The two
routes are: Batubulan bemo terminal-Sanur Bypass-Kuta Central Parking-Jimbaran-Nusa
Dua; and Puputan Square (Renon)-Udayana University Campus (near Jimbaran)-GWK. In
theory buses run every 30min from 5am-9pm. Current flat-rate fares are Rp3500.
BY BOAT
Private agents such as Perama offer integrated bus and boat tickets to Lombok, Nusa Lem-
bongan and other Indonesian islands. Island Promotions specializes in the Gili Islands. The
local Pelni office deals in long-distance ferries to other parts of Indonesia.
