ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE: KUTA-LEGIAN-SEMINYAK
BY PLANE
Ngurah Rai Airport Bali's only airport, Ngurah Rai Airport ( 0361 751011 ext 5273 or
0361 751020 ext 5123, www.ngurahrai-airport.co.id ), is situated 3km south of Kuta.
You'll find the usual ATMs and currency exchange booths in the baggage claims hall plus
just outside the Arrivals building, along with car rental outlets. The 24hr left-luggage of-
fices (Rp25,000/day/item) are tucked away outside, between International Arrivals and De-
partures, to the right of Domestic Arrivals.
By prepaid taxi The easiest way of getting away from the airport to Kuta-Legian-Seminyak.
The counter is outside International Arrivals to the left, or just outside Arrivals in the do-
mestic terminal. Fares are fixed: currently Rp45,000-55,000 to Tuban/south Kuta; Rp65,000
to central Kuta (Poppies 1 and 2); Rp70,000 to Legian (as far as Jl Arjuna); Rp80,000 to
Seminyak; Rp90,000 to Kerobokan.
By metered taxi Metered taxis are around twenty percent cheaper than prepaid. They're not
licensed to pick up inside the compound, so wait on the road outside the airport gates (turn
right outside International and walk about 500m). Blue Bird taxis are recommended.
By bemo Dark-blue public bemos often wait for customers on Jl Airport Ngurah Rai outside
the airport gates during daylight hours, then run to Kuta. However, given that schedules are
random - often only hourly - that it can be difficult to stash large backpacks in bemos and
that you'll only save around Rp30,000 on a prepaid taxi, they are not really worth the hassle.
By pick-up Most mid-priced and upmarket hotels will offer pick-up from (and travel to) the
airport for about Rp100,000-150,000.
BY SHUTTLE BUS
Private tourist shuttle buses run to all tourist destinations on Bali, including Lombok and the
Gili Islands. Every agency in Kuta-Legian-Seminyak seems to offer tickets at competitive
prices, so choose your most convenient. Drop-offs are usually at the operator's office at the
destination rather than specific hotels.
Perama Bali's biggest shuttle-bus operator, Perama, is based 100m north of Bemo Corner at
Jl Legian 39 (daily 6am-10pm; 0361 751875, peramatour.com ) ; for an extra Rp15,000
you can be picked up (and dropped off) from/at your hotel. Typical fares include Rp50,000
to Ubud, Rp125,000 to Lovina and Rp500,000 to the Gili Islands (including boat transfer).
