In-Depth Information
Figure 3.11 Create a primitive box.
3. Using the Vertex Move tool, slide the second-from-the-top row of vertices
up with the top row of vertices in the Front viewport. Slide the second-
from-the-bottom row so it aligns with the bottom row of vertices in the
Left viewport. Move the two middle rows to the outside rows of vertices
in the Top viewport (see Figure 3.12).
4. Now select each of the inner faces and move it slightly toward the middle of
the box (see Figure 3.13). I changed to Wireframe view for clarity.
Note
You can change to Wireframe view for clarity in any viewport by placing your cursor over the title
of a viewport, right-clicking to bring up a menu, and then selecting Wire Frame.
5. You will notice some faceting, or overlapping faces, in the Perspective Shaded
view. This is because when you moved the vertices up, you overlapped some
faces. You can fix overlapping faces by welding adjoining vertices (see Figure
3.14). At the bottom of the roll-down menu in the Edit Geometry box, there
is a box called Weld. Inside that box is a button called Selected. Select all the
vertices in the box. Leave the defaults and click on the Weld button. Notice
the change in the Perspective view. This will make the box much cleaner
and will fix any overlapping faces and duplicate vertices.
