In-Depth Information
18. Try testing the model by moving other limbs to see whether there are other
problems with the binding of the model. Fix these envelopes as needed by
adjusting the envelopes.
19. Even with the envelopes working for all the areas of the model, there could
still be problems. Select the lowest link of the torso and rotate it forward.
Notice the distortion of the face, as seen in Figure 7.49. The vertices of the
face are sharing influences with other links of the model besides the one for
the head. You could adjust the envelopes for these vertices, but there is
another way to adjust vertices on a vertex-by-vertex level. You will be using
this method to fine-tune the influences of the model.
Figure 7.49 The head distorts when the torso is rotated forward.
20. Press Ctrl+Z to restore the torso rotation back to the original position, then
select the model and then Vertex in the stack, as shown in Figure 7.50. Each
vertex in the model will be designated by a white plus symbol.
21. You can see the vertices that are bound to a link by choosing Select By Link in
the Vertex-Link Assignment rollout. Click on the head link with Select By Link
to see the vertices that are influenced by that link, as shown in Figure 7.51.
