When I viewed the model in Shaded mode, I noticed I had some holes in
my model—or, more to the point, I had some polys missing from my model
(see Figure 4.17).

13. 3ds Max has an option that allows you to rebuild missing polys. Right-click
on your model and choose Create Polygons (see Figure 4.18).
14. In any missing face, click on any vertex. After the plus sign appears, click
around each vertex in the missing poly and back to the one you started
with. It should take a total of five clicks to complete the poly. You might
notice, as I did, that nothing seems to happen. You probably built a poly
with the normal pointing away from the camera. You can confirm this by
rotating around the model and seeing the poly from the back side. Select
the face again, and then click the Flip button, located in the Modify panel
under Surface Properties. This will reverse the poly normal to the correct
direction (see Figure 4.19).
