A PIECE OF THE PAST
A fabulous way to pick up a unique piece of Venetian history is to purchase an
old book from an antiquarian bookseller or antiques market in Venice. Many of
these books are hand-bound. Keep your eye out for printers' marks or logos in
the first few pages, which will give you information about the origin of the pub-
lisher or printer. And don't forget about prints, many of which were detached
from antique books at some point in history. You can pick up beautiful etchings
and engravings by known Venetian artists at many antiquarian shops across
the city.
