There's no need to jump through these hoops. Let's look at the easy way to compute percent
of total .
We'll start by placing the players' names on the Rows shelf and dragging HR (for home runs)
onto the Column shelf. Just as we filtered the batting average chart, let's get rid of all players
who don't have at least one home run by dragging HR to the Filter shelf and selecting At
Least one home run. Adding the Rank field as before, we can now easily see that 18 different
Yankees hit at least one home run for the team during the 2012 season, as shown in Fig-
ure 5-6 .
We haven't done anything new yet; we've just applied the same techniques previously
covered to the home run field. How do we easily compute percent of total?

First, let's visualize the players' home run tallies in comparison to the overall team number.
To do so, select the Analysis menu from the top, and then choose Totals Show Column
Totals . Adding SUM(HR) to the Label shelf yields the view shown in Figure 5-7 .
